The Government of Kerala is to set up a permanent venue for conducting IFFK. The government appointed committee for report on the matter headed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, which also proposed to start a film institute, video park and film archive. “Accomplished filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan has prepared a report on the need for setting up a permanent venue to conduct international film festivals and also some basic infrastructure, which is now being considered for implementation," said M A Baby, Minister for Education and Culture, Government of kerala.
The government is also considering for increasing subsidy of Rupees 4 Lakh given by Chalachitra Academy for Malayalam films produced in state-owned Chitranjali Studio. "We have two more years and we will complete the setting up of the film infrastructure projects before our term ends. We will consider positively the demand to increase the film subsidy given to filmmakers from the present Rs 4 Lakh" the minister added.
